Environmental Management and Planning
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for environmental compliance. (Annually)
• Obtain, interpret and communicate environmental regulations applicable to WAPCo. (Annually)
• Update hazardous chemicals management plans and hazardous spill response and clean-up procedure (Quarterly).
• Maintain records of chemical inventories, investigation of environmental incidents, and shipment of hazardous waste. (Quarterly).
• Obtain and maintain valid all necessary environmental permits and certificates (Annually)
• Update Environmental Management Plan (Annually)
• Supervise removal or testing of hazardous materials (On need basis)
Environmental Monitoring and Compliance Reporting
• Conduct inspections and audits to assure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations and also with World Bank safeguard requirements (Annually).
• Track and report status of audit action items to HES Manager (Monthly.
• Facilitate external audits by regulatory agencies.( Annually)
• Develop and maintain regulatory compliance register ( Annually)
• Prepare and submit environmental monitoring reports to regulatory agencies in accordance with regulatory requirements for each country. (Quarterly)
• Hold meetings with Environmental Regulators across WAGP states (Quarterly)
Greenhouse Gas & Energy Management Plan (GHGEMP)
• Implement WAPCo Greenhouse Gas & Energy Management Plan. (Annually)
• Oversee the tracking and reporting of GHG emissions (Monthly & Quarterly)
• Promote emission abatement projects focused on reducing carbon emissions, such as energy efficiency improvements, renewable energy integration, and industrial carbon capture (Annually)
• Track key performance indicators related to emissions reductions, waste management, and greenhouse gas reduction projects, ensuring continuous progress. (Monthly & Quarterly)
Provide occupational/industrial hygiene guidance and surveillance monitoring appropriate to WAPCo Workforce
• Develops and conducts occupational/industrial hygiene training and surveys. ( Annually)
• Provides technical support on Occupational Health and Food Safety reviews for WAPCo facilities. (On the need basis)
• Develops and implements Occupational Health related Practices for WAPCo ensuring continuous improvement efforts such as; Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Occupational Hygiene Practice, Food Safety practice etc. (Annually)
• Assists in risk assessment reviews of new facilities for additions or single plant projects from Occupational Hygiene perspective. (On the need basis)
• Lead typical OH incident investigations and uses systematic approach to determine root causes and develop corrective actions. (On the need basis)
Employee and Contractor Training
• Train employees/contractors in environmental and regulatory compliance requirements (Annually).
• Provide hazardous waste operations and emergency response (HAZWOPER) training to employees and contractors (Annually)
• HES related competencies development
Educational/Working Experience:
• A Bachelor/first degree in Environmental/Natural Science, Pollution Control and Management, Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering, with a minimum of 10 years relevant work experience, five (5) of which should be on managerial/leadership experience especially in a pipeline organization or Oil & Gas industry. A Masters’ degree will be an added advantage.
• NEBOSH International Diploma in Environmental Management/ NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) Certification and NEBOSH/OSHA18001 Certifications.
• Experience in conducting Environmental studies (EIA, EER, PIA etc.), Knowledge of oil & gas industry regulations on the environment, environmental management and planning, hazardous waste and emergency response operations (HAZWOPER).
• Good knowledge of Occupational Health related subjects such as; Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Occupational Hygiene Practice, Food Safety, etc.
